Neglected vacant lots in North City's Wells Goodfellow neighborhood were converted into green space in order to improve access to nature with walking paths and ecologically significant habitat. The goals of the project ranged from increased stormwater absorption to increased community pride. One outcome of this project has been a significant reduction of illegal dumping at this location.
Native grasses were established at this location in order to maximize the absorption of runoff. Tall grasses have deep roots which support carbon sequestration. https://www.greencitycoalition.org/wells-goodfellow.html
