Our Foundation supported the Bell Demonstration Garden with funding for Prairie Kits, structures for pollinators, Hawk platforms, a bed of native plantings, and educational signage. Participants in workshops funded by the grant received mason bee houses and herb plants for their gardens.
Bell Demonstration Garden serves as a community resource for urban gardeners. The property productively utilizes 22 vacant lots in Grand Center for dozens of vegetable gardens, compost and native plantings. At the Demonstration Garden, community members have received resources including educational workshops and gardening materials. Each week, food grown in the garden was given to volunteers and a nearby food pantry. The grantee for this project was Seed St. Louis (formerly Gateway Greening)
